For lineman and utility contractors

You build it.
We’ll help you bill it.

Your crews report what they did. Cable Ledger prices it against the contract and hands you a billing estimate the same day, not at the end of the month, and not rebuilt by hand in a spreadsheet.

Illustrative. Rates come from your contract's rate sheets.

The problem

Stop rebuilding the month in a spreadsheet.

Every billing cycle, the same week disappears.

  • Daily reports arrive on paper, in texts, and in three different handwritings
  • The contract rate sheet lives in a spreadsheet only one person can price from
  • Production quantities get retyped from the reports into the estimate, by hand
  • The GC asks what was built on the 14th, and the answer takes an hour to assemble

The work got done. Your crews know exactly what they built.

Proving it, pricing it and billing it is what costs you the month, and an invoice you cannot back up is an invoice that waits.

Cable Ledger was built to close that gap.

How it works

One system. From the field to the invoice.

Four steps, in the order your business already runs them. Nothing to re-key between any two of them.

  1. Once per contract

Drop in the rate sheets you bid

Upload the PDFs or spreadsheets. Cable Ledger reads every line and rate, you check it, and the job prices off all of them.

  2. Every day

    Crews file the day's work

Who worked, what equipment ran, what got built and how much of it, against the contract's own line items.

  3. Your call

    Review and approve

Nothing reaches billing until somebody with the permission to say so approves it. Rejections go back with a reason.

  4. One click

    Generate the billing estimate

Approved quantities priced off the job's rate sheets, totalled, and exported as a PDF your customer can check line by line.

The same rate sheets feed the report and the estimate, so the two can never disagree

In the field

Built for the people doing the work

The daily report is the only thing a crew ever has to touch. It takes minutes, from a phone, in the truck, at the end of the day.

  • Nothing to install

It runs in the browser already on the phone. No app store, no provisioning, no version everybody is behind on.

  • Works without signal

Prints, pins and photos save on the device and sync when the truck is back in coverage.

  • Crew and equipment hours

Who worked, what ran and for how long, recorded with the day's work rather than reconstructed a week later.

  • Their own pay history

Anyone on the roster can read back their own hours and pay without routing the question through the office.

Every user is a person

Not every person needs to be a user.

Your roster
Everyone who does work. They get hours, equipment, compensation and pay history whether or not they ever sign in. Free.
Your logins
The people who open the app to report, approve or bill. This is the only thing you pay for.
In the office

Bill the month in an afternoon

Every project, report, rate and approval in one place, so closing out a billing period is reading a number, not assembling one.

Production reporting

What got built, by which crew, on which project, over whatever window you need to answer for.

Customers and contracts

The CRM side: who you work for, the contacts who sign, and the contracts the rates hang off.

Payroll runs

A week or a fortnight, computed from the same daily reports the billing came from.

Roles you define

Not a fixed list of six. Build the roles your company actually has, out of individual permissions.

Purpose-built

For lineman crews, not general construction

General-purpose field software makes you describe your business in its vocabulary. Cable Ledger already speaks yours. There is no custom-field exercise between signing up and filing a report.

Simple enough for the truck.

Strict enough for the audit.

Pricing

One plan. Pay for who signs in.

A monthly base with 6 logins included, then one flat rate per additional login, any role.

Frequently asked questions

The things contractors ask before they hand us a billing cycle.

Is this built for lineman and utility work specifically?

Yes. The vocabulary is fixed, not configured: contracts have rate sheets, crews file daily reports against line items, foremen approve, and estimates price off the approved quantities. There is no custom-field exercise between signing up and filing your first report, because the product already assumes the work you do.

Do I pay for every person on my crew?

No. You pay for people who sign in. Everybody who does work lives on your roster and can be scheduled, have hours and equipment recorded against them, be paid and read their own pay history, without a login and without a seat.

Do I have to type in my rate sheets?

No. Upload the PDF or spreadsheet, scanned copies included, and the line items, units and rates are read out of it. You check the result against the original before it is saved, and can add any line by hand. Spreadsheets and PDFs with selectable text are unlimited; scanned PDFs are read by a paid service, so each organization gets 500 scanned pages a month.

Is there a storage limit?

Yes, and it is set well above what a crew uses. Every organization gets 100 GB for photos, prints and documents, plus 10 GB for each login beyond 6. The account owner is warned at 80%, uploads only pause 10% past the limit, and more can be added from Settings in 100 GB blocks at any time.

What happens when the trial ends?

The trial runs 14 days and needs a card to start, which is what keeps the account live the moment it ends. Cancel any time before then and you are not charged. If a subscription lapses later, your organization becomes read-only rather than deleted. The data is still there when you come back.

Show 4 more questions
Does it work from a phone, without signal?

Yes. It runs in the browser or from the home screen. Prints, pins and photos work with no signal and sync when you are back in coverage. Filing a daily report needs a connection.

Will you help us get set up?

Yes. Getting a workspace running means your customers, your projects, your rate sheets and your crews in the right shape, and we would rather do that with you than hand over an empty account. Send us what you already have, whether that is rate sheets or a spreadsheet of your roster, and we will help you get it in and walk your office through it before your crews start filing.

Are the roles fixed?

No. Roles are built from individual permissions and defined by your organization. Every new organization starts with six editable roles that cover the common shape of a contractor, and you can rename them, change what they grant, or add your own. That includes keeping pricing out of a role entirely, so a foreman can file reports all week without ever seeing what the work bills at.

What happens to our data if we leave?

It stays yours. Reports, estimates and rate sheets export as PDFs or spreadsheets at any time while the subscription is live, so you can take out whatever you want before you go, and if you would rather have the whole thing in one go than pull it screen by screen, ask and we will put a full export together for you. Cancelling locks the organization rather than wiping it, so nothing is destroyed if you missed something or decide to come back.
